Our body consists of muscle tissue, bones, organs, water and fat. With regard to loosing weight, we have to aim at loosing fat percentage and not only kilos, because if we aim at a rapid weight loss (more than 4 – 6 kg/month at the most), then we will loose muscle tissue as well. Especially for women, muscles are valuable because they are difficult to “build” and easy to loose.
When it comes to muscle tissue, the more we have the better because it requires energy for its preservation and in this way it increases our metabolism. In addition, it prevents osteoporosis.
With regard to fat, although we usually try to limit the fat percentages in our body, nevertheless we have forgotten that fat is useful too as long as there is in specific quantities in the human body.
– It is a source of energy. When needed, the fat cell releases its fat in order to supply our body with energy.
– It holds a protective role. It protects the bowels and bones and it regulates our temperature.
– It is a production plant of hormones and other factors. Our fat is not a passive tissue but it participates actively in the endocrine balance of the human body. However, increased fat causes disorders in the production and activity of hormones that relate to metabolism, aggravating obesity and leading to a vicious circle. One such example is the hormone called “leptin”, which is produced in the fat cells and mainly in those around the belly and, acting in the hypothalamus, it limits our appetite. In the body of obese people, greater quantities of the leptin hormone are produced compared to that of thin people, leading to the conclusion that the former should be thinner due to the hormone’s anorectic activity. However, this is not the case because the human body is resistant to leptin, i.e. it blocks the leptin receptors in our brain quashing its activity.
Depending on the way fat is distributed in the human body we have:
When there is more fat percentage than normal, our health is negatively affected as follows:
Body type | Where fat is distributed | Problems |
Android (Apple) | In the belly and generally in the upper part of the body | There is increased risk for developing cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension, diabetes |
Gynecoid (Pear) | In the hips and thighs
|
Fluid retention, vein insufficiency, varices |
How you can loose fat specifically from your thighs and hips
Weight loss is achieved solely by reducing the calories we consume. There are no “magic” machines that we can use in order to start loosing weight. Therefore, when one is overweight, then a hypocaloric diet must be followed.
However, there is no specific diet for loosing fat solely from the thighs or hips. In this case, when it becomes obvious that during weight loss a few areas where fat is stored are resistant, then the beautician can tackle those specific areas using special treatments.
At Nefer, with regard to the loss of topical fat, we recommend the Hypoxi method always in combination with a weekly diet support, so that we can achieve a “targeted” fat loss.
